Ir. Ts. Prof. Dr. Chee-Fai Tan is an authority in engineering, known for expertise in digital transformation, intelligent manufacturing, industrial AI, and robotics. With more than 25 years of impact, he aligns technology with business outcomes—innovation, productivity, and growth.

He serves as Vice President of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry-University Collaboration, Strategic Research & Engagement) of Kuala Lumpur University of Science & Technology (KLUST). As an Executive Committee Member of the Machinery & Engineering Industries Federation (MEIF), Founding President of Malaysia Smart Industry Association (MyAI) and Founding President of the ASEAN Federation of Smart Industry (AI), he shapes policy and ecosystems that raise regional competitiveness. He is the founder of Robolab Technology Pvt Ltd. A company that focus on engineering and technology consultancy, project management and capacity building services that related to manufacturing. 

At the international level, Prof. Tan is a Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology (AAET) and the Academy of Engineering & Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW), underscoring his significant role in advancing engineering and technology development across ASEAN and emerging economies. Notably, he is the first foreign Council Member of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), a Subject Matter Expert of the China Association of Science & Technology (CAST), and one of the driving forces behind the formation of the  International Society of Sensing Technology (ISST), playing a pivotal role in bringing these global platforms into existence.

He is a global standards contributor through his involvement with the ISO/IEC Smart Manufacturing Standards Map Task Force (SM2TF), supporting the harmonization of digital industrial standards worldwide. He also holds the designation of Asian Certified Senior Productivity Specialist under the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), HRDCorp Thought Leader and Member of the Council of Experts, the Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body (GITC). As a core member of the Big Data and AI Working Group under the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), he champions the integration of AI and data-driven practices in global engineering communities.
