Hangzhou Institute of Extremely-Weak Magnetic Field Major National Science and Technology InfrastructureThe Hangzhou Institute of Extremely-Weak Magnetic Field Major National Science and Technology Infrastructure was established in December 2020, located in the Hangzhou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Binjiang District). It is a new type of research and development institution (public institution) jointly supported by the Zhejiang provincial government, Hangzhou municipal government, and Binjiang District government.

The institute is led by Professor Fang Jiancheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who serves as the chairman of the board and chief scientist.Mission of the InstituteApproved by the National Development and Reform Commission and with the support of Beihang University, Zhejiang Province, and Hangzhou City, the Hangzhou Institute of Extremely-Weak Magnetic Field Major National Science and Technology Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Institute for Major Scientific Apparatus of Beihang University, is jointly responsible for the cultivation, construction, operation and maintenance, and technical upgrading of the major national science and technology infrastructure for extremely-weak magnetic fields.

The institute also engages in scientific research, technological innovation, technology transfer, and application promotion, while gathering and cultivating high-level, international innovative talents.Vision of the InstituteWithin approximately five years, the institute aims to build an internationally influential national major scientific and technological innovation platform and an industry-academia-research cooperation base, attracting a number of enterprises to create a national quantum sensing industry innovation center.

By around 2035, the institute will have established itself as an important international laboratory for extremely-weak magnetic fields and an international zero-magnetic science center, becoming a significant strategic scientific and technological force of the nation.
