Harbin Institute of Technology Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence Inc., (HIT AI Research) is a new-type research entity jointly established in 2020 by Heilongjiang Provincial Government and HIT under their Cooperative Agreement. As a high-tech spin-off from HIT's AI research institute, it integrates the university's national-level research resources in computer science and robotics, forming a government-industry-university-research-application collaboration system. Within four years, it has developed into an innovation platform covering fundamental research, technological development and product commercialization, being recognized in 2023 as one of Heilongjiang's first "Specialized and Innovative" AI enterprises.

The company operates four core business units: Service robots with human-machine interaction breakthroughs, special robots with autonomous decision-making capabilities in intelligent robotics; The self-developed "SmartEye" computer vision platform achieves micron-level detection accuracy; NLP-powered customer service systems serving 200+ enterprises; Smart manufacturing solutions deployed in aerospace and automotive production lines. It holds 42 invention patents, participates in 3 national standard formulations, and operates 6 joint labs with partners like Aerospace Science and China FAW. The 2023 R&D investment reached 120 million yuan, accounting for 45% of revenue.
